Paul urges us to meditate on the above 8 things. These originate in our mind, manifest in action and shown to others. As a result, we get "The God of peace" (v9). Eventually we glorify God by manifesting good character and conduct.

Prayer - Lord, strengthen us to meditate and keep the above things in our mind, always.

SUPPORT

Numbers 1:54 "Thus the children of Israel did--------so they did."

GODLY WAYS

1 Samuel 8:3 "But his (Samuel) sons did not walk in his (Samuel) ways."

RESPECT ELDERS

March 30—April 5

You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old

man, and fear your God: I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:32

God delights in us when we respect elders and honor them.

Elders are the root cause for our life's blessings. When we

do so, eventually the glory and honor go to our Lord who is the

only one who deserves it.

Prayer: Lord, enable me to respect, esteem and favor elders.

GOD'S WORK

April 6—12

Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why

the bush does not burn." Exodus 3:3

Like Moses, let us stop for a while and ponder why we aren't consumed

though we have so many oppressions and suppressions. Only at such a moment

we will realize God's work and power which comes our way when we

do not expect or ask.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for your great grace, wonderful work and

amazing power. Amen.

FIND AND BIND

April 13—19

So ----the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes—Genesis 3:6

Here the temptations came to Eve in a beautiful and beneficial form. We, as

God's children need discernment spirit to know this with the help of Holy Spirit.

Not only that, we need to immediately bind those temptations in the name of Jesus.

Prayer: Dear Father, help me not to fall for any kind of temptations. Amen.

SABBATH

April 20—26

"Therefore the son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." Mark 2:28

Sabbath means day of rest. Just stop your routine, tiresome and busy work

and come to the temple of God. There you will feel the presence of God and you

start to think about God's amazing grace, that inspires to praise and worship

God along with fellow believers and have fellowship with one another. On the

Whole, you are growing spiritually in Christ.

Prayer: Lord, show me the right way to celebrate Sabbath. Amen.

GOD'S WORD

April 26—May2

For the word of God is living and powerful--- Hebrew 4:12

God's word has life and power. As we read, meditate and ponder the word

of God, we get spiritual life and spiritual power. That gives discernment spirit,

convicts, sanctifies, guides, protects, governs and bestows blessing upon us.

Prayer: In the name of Jesus, I would read and meditate the word of God

May

LEAN ON GOD

May 4---10

For they call themselves after the holy city, And lean on the God of Israel. Is.48:2

The Israelites backslide several times but they always came back to the Lord.

Out of their experiences, they learned that they can not achieve anything on their own

Eventually they leaned on God for everything. No matter how worse a sinner you are,

Come back to Lord and just lean on Him.

Prayer: - Oh Lord teach me to lean on you. Amen

HARVEST

May 11---17

The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few. Luke 10:2

Thousands of people are dying as thousands of babies are born everyday. Studies say that very few are ready to see our Lord at death. Are we not responsible for that? If you and I go to vineyard as laborers, we can avoid the tragedy.

Prayer: - Lord, use me as your labor in your field. Amen.

IN THE NAME OF JESUS

May18---24

But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts. 1 Samuel.17:45

We all need strength, knowledge, wisdom, health and wealth to prosper in our life.

Are we truly able to do what we want to do? Not so, most of the time we face failures.

Henceforth, let us submit to God and start working in the name of the Lord of hosts

And enjoy the victorious life in Christ.

Prayer: - Oh God! I see victory in all areas of my life in the name of the Lord of hosts.

LONG SPIRITUAL LIFE

May 25---31

Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. Proverbs.4:10

Listen to God's statutes and commandments. Do not be a hearer but be a doer of His word.As much as we receive and use God's advises, our life is going to be long. We do not necessarily mean the worldly life but the spiritual life. During this long life span, we can bring glory to God.

Prayer: -- Father, let me receive your word in my heart and act accordingly. Amen.

JUNE 1ST TO 7TH

                                FORGET YOURSELF

Acts 20:12

After the uproar…. Paul encouraged them with many words, he came to Greece…

Paul went through rough and tough times in Macedonia. After going through such experiences, Paul left for Greece where he did not talk about himself.

At the same time he had concern for others and encouraged them with good words.

Prayer: - Lord, help me to have concern for others and not of me. Amen.

 JUNE 8TH TO 14TH

                                   CRY UNTO GOD

Matthews 20:31

Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more,

The blind men were stopped by the multitude. In spite of that, they cried out more saying “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us.” In the same manner, in our lives, sometime we are stopped by various reasons. Let us start crying out to God more calling upon the name of our Lord till we get an answer from Him.

Prayer: - Let me not weary in calling you, Oh Lord. Amen.

JUNE 15TH TO 21ST

                                          IMMEDIATE ACTION

Mark 1:31

So He (Jesus) came….immediately the fever left her. And she served them.

The moment Jesus comes into our lives, immediate action will take place. For example, we will be delivered from sins, sickness, sorrows, debts and failures. After we receive those blessings from Jesus, what is our immediate response?

Prayer: - Lord, I want to share your love to others. Amen.

JUNE 22ND TO 28TH

                                              DO NOT TARRY

Hebrews 10:37

For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not weary.

God’s promise is true. God never fails in His promises. His coming is going to be sooner without tarrying. Let us be prepared to meet Him soon. Let us believe whole heartedly that Jesus is coming soon.

Prayer: - Oh God!  I want to be ready to meet you. Amen.

 JUNE 29TH TO JULY 2ND

                                              ABOMINATION

 Proverbs 28:9

One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

It is good to know the sins that are an abomination to the Lord. That knowledge will help us to avoid those things that displease God. From the above verse, we understand that prayer without hearing the word of God is abominable. God is pleased when we listen to His word first, then He listens to our prayers.

Prayer: - Father, help me to listen to you first. Amen.

WEEK 1

Philemon 1:6 – “…be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.”

Many times we are amazed by how indescribable and unfathomable God is. We long to see and understand His mind and heart. Although we may not find answers for everything till we come face to face with God one day in eternity, we still have the privilege of having a full understanding of every good thing in Jesus Christ while we are on earth. The key to unlock this understanding is simply to share your faith, for freely you have received so freely give. In Philemon, the word of God tells us to ‘be active in sharing.. .’ our faith which means that apathy is not part of a Christian’s life. We must respond to the need to save souls instantly. Actively witnessing the good news of Jesus Christ brings us closer to His heart and gives us the understanding of all good things in Him.

Prayer: Lord, let your Holy Spirit help me to make the choice to actively witness the gospel to the lost. As I share my faith in the world wherever I go, let me receive a full understanding of every good thing in you Jesus. Amen.

 WEEK 2

I Peter 3:15 – “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

The hope that we have in Jesus Christ is one of salvation and eternal life. He died on the cross and rose up from the dead to give us hope. But are you prepared to give an answer for the hope that you have when you are questioned? This world we live in has many questions about the gospel of hope in Jesus. Those who have the right answers are not scholars and academicians but the Children of God who have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. However, the Lord tells us how the answer should be given. We must always be prepared to give the answer and we must do it in gentleness and respect.

Prayer: Father, I pray that you would prepare my heart to give an answer for the hope that I have in you and help me to do that in gentleness and respect.

 WEEK 3

Job 6:10 – “then I would still have the consolation – my joy in unrelenting pain – that I had not denied the words of the Holy one.”

Job was found by God as a man of godly sincerity and integrity. God favored Job and was pleased with him because even in the midst of intense pain. When everything he had was stripped from him, even to the point of death, Job found a reason to be joyful. Job stated that even in his ‘unrelenting pain’ his ‘joy’ was complete. He did not bring charges against God for the suffering he had to endure. What about us? Are we able to say that our joy and consolation is found in the Holy One who remains a faithful God in our lives even when our world may seem to tear apart? Or do we choose to question God and remain bitter about our sufferings? The story of Job should encourage and motivate us to always find our joy and consolation in Jesus Christ, the Holy One, who deserves all praise even in our darkest hour.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray that your Holy Spirit will strengthen me during my darkest hour and through my sufferings. May my joy and consolation always be complete in you. Let me not deny your sovereignty or your words when I need to trust you the most. Amen.

 WEEK 4

I Chronicles 28:9 – “Serve Him with a perfect heart and a willing mind.”

The life that we are given is granted to us so that we may serve Jesus wherever we are and through whatever we do. We were sent to this earth with the mission to glorify Jesus by proclaiming the good news to all mankind and reaching out to the weak and the needy. But a service with ungodliness, pride, murmurings and complaints are not acceptable in God’s sight. In order to serve him, God desires that first and foremost, we His children must believe and love Jesus. This belief in Jesus and a true love for Him moves the heart to be perfect and pure for God’s glory and transforms the mind by the power of the Holy Spirit to willingly submit to His ways and plans.

Prayer: Jesus I love you with all my heart and I believe in you as the son of God. Let me only ever serve you with a pure and perfect heart and a willing mind. Amen.

August 1, 2008

Isaiah 56: 1 – This is what the Lord says: “Maintain justice and do what is right…”

Our God is a God of justice. The Bible says that He has established His throne on justice and righteousness. His heart beats for the cause of the oppressed because these people are created in His image. When we see injustice being done, we react by asking God “why do you allow this? Or why do you do this? God simply wants us to know that He has already done something to uproot in justice and establish justice in its stead. He created you and me to stand up for the truth and do what is right. Are we ready?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you are enthroned in justice and righteousness. Enable me to have the same boldness to stand up for the cause of the oppressed, maintain justice and do what is right. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

 August 8, 2008

Acts 4:32 – All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.

The early church led by the disciples of Jesus characterized the heart of Jesus. In Jesus prayer in John 17 He specifically prays for unity among the believers and the first Christians brought that to fruition. Today, the body of Christ is divided over several issues and they are mostly trivial. However, the Bible urges that we who believe in Christ should be one in heart and mind. This means to be one with each other and also one with God. When we are united and one, it is then that we understand the heart and mind of Christ which is to share everything with those who do not have and not claim any possession as our own. Love is the key to this oneness. Let us strive towards the same in today’s church.

Prayer: Almighty God, I pray that you will unite your body, your children, as one in heart and mind to do your will. Let there be love among us and help us strive towards helping each other selflessly. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

 August 15, 2008

Daniel 10: 12 - … “do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your god, your words were heard and I have come in response to them.”

Daniel was chosen by God to reveal visions concerning the end times. Daniel saw the supernatural at work many times. This verse explains the reason God chose Daniel. Daniel held a high position in Persia but he always humbled himself before God almighty. That was not the end of it but Daniel also chose to set his mind to gain understanding of heavenly things because his focus was not on earthly concerns. God saw the humility and thirst in Daniel and thus responded to his prayer. Over and over again in this chapter and in the previous one, the word of God says that Daniel was highly esteemed by God. Humility moved God’s heart to answer Daniel’s words. What is our mind set on?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me by the power of your holy spirit to set my mind on heavenly things and gain understanding of the visions you implant in my life. As I humble myself before you lord, answer my prayers.

August 22, 2008

Hebrews 6: 15 – So after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

Abraham was 90 years old when God promised him a whole nation through his wife Sarah. He also promised that all nations will be blessed through him. Ten years went by with no fulfillment of that promise. Abraham had all the reasons to believe during this time that this God was not real since he could see his wife Sarah was not conceived as promised. But he didn’t do so. The scripture tells us that he waited patiently. And after he waited patiently, he received what was promised. In the same way, in our flesh we doubt the fulfillment of God’s promises in our own lives. But we have a lesson to learn from Abraham to wait patiently for God’s time. When his time comes, everything will be beautiful in his way.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me and help me to wait patiently for your promises to be fulfilled in my life. Let me not lose heart but trust in you and remain faithful because in your time, all things are perfected beautifully. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

August 29, 2008

Luke 23: 31 – For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?

In this verse, Jesus is speaking to the daughters of Jerusalem on his way to Calvary. He is referring to those men including the Pharisees who rejected him while he was on earth sending an innocent man to death. The green tree referred to here is Jesus. And Jesus’ question was if men did these horrible things when the son of God was on earth, how much more the pain, suffering, persecution, hardships, troubles and tears will abound when he is gone. Even today in many churches, homes and families situations seem hopeless because the tree of hope with the promise of salvation is not present. Invite Jesus to be part of your life today then you will witness the abundance of joy and peace even in the midst of pain. Plant the green tree in the center of your life then all things will be reflected green.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I invite you to be the center of everything in my life. I ask you to be part of my home, my family, my church and my personal life so that I can bear the fruit of the Spirit in abundance and manifest your holy presence. In Jesus precious name I pray, Amen.

Persecution

Colossians
4: 3 – Pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.

It is sometimes a difficult thing to think about those people and places where the gospel is preached amidst persecution and death. This is all the more difficult when we are safe and secure in our comfort zones, comfortable in our pews at our church. But Paul urged the believers to pray for those in chains for the sake of the gospel. Let us stop and think of our brothers and sisters around the world so that God will open a door for them to spread the message of salvation and the mystery of Christ.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray for those around the world who are persecuted and are in chains for your name sake. Lord, open a door for them to continue drawing many into your kingdom by spreading the good news of your redeeming work on the cross. Amen.

Healing for the Soul

Hosea 6:1 – Come let us return to the Lord, he has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds

God allows us to be broken and torn apart. He allows us to get injured and wounded. Most often, they are consequences of our own poor choices. But God is more than able to restore us to himself once again. He heals us and binds up our wounds so that our sins and weaknesses would be exposed in the light of his glory and we would be sanctified by the truth.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I offer my broken and contrite heart to you. Heal me and restore me. Make me whole once again so that I may walk in your truth. In your name I pray. Amen

Blameless House

Psalm 101:2 – I will be careful to lead a blameless life…I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart.

It may seem that sometimes the responsibility of a house rests solely on the shoulders of the Head of the family. However, each individual in a household and in the family have a responsibility to conduct their affairs in a blameless manner. God desires that His children walk blamelessly before him so that as a household we may serve him and that our service will be holy unto him.

Prayer: Heavenly father, may my walk be blameless before you and I pray that your Holy Spirit would strengthen me to conduct the affairs of my house blamelessly. In Jesus name, Amen.

True Repentance

Jonah 1:12 – “pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied, “…I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.”

Jonah is remembered as the man and the prophet who ran away from God trying to hide from him. But hardly anyone focuses on what courage it must have taken for him to admit his fault and confess his sin openly before men. His true repentance came forth in the darkness of a fish’s belly but he also set an example to become vulnerable before men and be accountable in order to show that he too was weak and that he was willing to face the consequence of his wrong decision. As a result, a ship escaped a dangerous storm, a whole city turned to God and one prophet realized that God was powerful, loving and compassionate.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray that you would enable me to be humble before men and be accountable to others by being open and vulnerable, never placing myself high above them. Let that be the beginning of a breakthrough in every area of my life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

September 29, 2008

Anger

Ephesians 4: 26 – In your anger do not sin… and do not give the devil a foothold

Many people today easily justify their rage and anger. While only maturity in Christ would help us to discern between righteous anger and carnal rage, the Bible is still clear about one thing. Anger gives the devil a foothold in your life. Turn to Jesus to help you manage your anger and be committed to avoid letting the sun go down in your anger.

Prayer: Lord Jesus I turn to you to help me through your Holy Spirit to practice self control. Help me to not give the devil a foothold through my anger. In your name I ask. Amen.

Giving in a way to affect the world

Proverbs 11:25 – He who waters others shall himself be watered.

Tithing may be alright to start with. But as we grow in other graces and virtues, we must abound in the grace of giving. We should give and give till it affects people around us and also affects us. Nothing of what we give to god is ours. They are what we have received from him. Let us water the kingdom of God with all that he has given us and water souls around us.

Prayer: Lord, let my life be given and every moment spent for the expansion of the kingdom of God and for multiplication of souls to the glory of God. Amen.

October 8, 2008

Works of the flesh

I John 2:16 – The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are not of the father.

If we indulge in the works of the flesh, we are sure to miss the leading of the Holy Spirit. Sensuality and Spirituality are opposed to each other and the battle goes on constantly in our hearts. Let us always beware of carnal desires, asking for more than we need where the world calls as opportunities may be traps.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me by your power and by the Holy Spirit to keep from lusting after the things of the world. Amen

October 15, 2008

The nourishing food for the soul

Isaiah 34:16 – Search from the book of the lord and read…

The Bible is God’s word. We must dwell on a passage from scripture long enough until the message comes out. We cannot be complete or thoroughly equipped unless we give our time to the reading and meditating of God’s word without neglecting it.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, lead me to yearn and long for your word and may your word move us to live for you according to your will. Amen.

October 22, 2008

Accepting adversity

Job 2: 10 – Shall we indeed accept good from God and shall we not accept adversity?

The theology of many an average Christian is childish. God is no more than a Santa Claus. But a sign of spiritual maturity and victory is when we accept even tribulation, distress, danger, pain, peril, suffering and much more with an unshakeable confidence that God gives us the patience to endure through them.

Prayer: Lord God of heaven and earth, open our eyes to see your sovereignty even when adversity strikes us and help us to be rooted in you during trouble. Amen.

October 29, 2008

Hope and pride in the gospel

Romans 1: 16 – I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ

The church is a people with hope in a hopeless world. But how do we express this hope to the world? We must be bold in proclaiming the gospel. There will be persecution when we speak the gospel but that should not give room for discouragement or for any feeling that would lead us to be ashamed of that hope. Instead let us be proud of it.

Prayer: Heavenly father, we give you praise with a grateful heart for the gift of your son on the cross. Even now because of his death and resurrection, we have hope for the future. Help us to be proud of the gospel and to speak it boldly everywhere we go. Amen.

November, 2008

I John 4:1- Do not believe every spirit but test the spirits whether they are of God!

We are at a time in history, when the prophecies mentioned in the last chapters of the Bible, are being fulfilled. One of them is the explosion of ‘different spirits’ in the form of false prophets and false teachers who outnumber the true ministers of God. This is the time when they will be in the most active phase. This will result in a slow and unintentional drifting away from our faith. So, more than ever, it is important to pray for the gift of discernment.

Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the precious gift of ‘discernment of spirits’, so that I will not be led astray from your Word, and that I may stand steadfast in faith. Amen.

James 1:12- Blessed is the man who endures temptation.

This is one of the simplest instructions, and yet one of the toughest to follow in the Bible. How can we resist temptation, when we are besieged by it? Well, we have to remember that we are not the first, nor will we be the last to face temptation – temptation is not a sin, but yielding to temptation is. There is no degree of temptation which we cannot endure and it is up to us to resist so that we may overcome the devil’s tactics to lead us away from God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the strength to withstand the everyday temptations of the devil, so that your name be glorified and that works may shine through me. Amen.

I Peter 2:23- Christ left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

Sometimes, in our workplace at home, we can really get frustrated with misunderstanding or injustice, perceived or otherwise. How do we respond in such a situation? In this case, we have to follow the lead of Jesus, who surrendered everything in the hands of God, trusting implicitly in God’s judgment. Once we do that, we will see these situations take care of themselves.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I submit all my issues and problems into your hand, trusting you to judge fairly and give me peace that surpasses understanding. Amen.

Col 4:2- Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

As Christians, it is very important to stay alert in our daily life. The devil never rests. He is always on the lookout, to bring down faithful Christians. The Bible is replete with instances where God fearing men and women fell into sinful ways, due to a lapse in their diligence in their daily walk with God. It should be a lesson for us all, that even as we maintain our focus on God, we should not let any place for slackness or obliviousness to take root in our spiritual life.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to stay on my feet at all times that I may not fall into the devil’s trap. Help me to stay diligent always, and that even if I stumble and fall, help me to get up and keep walking in your ways. Amen.

Week 1

Psalm 118: 8-9 - It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in human beings. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes

Many times we have seen people use the privilege of knowing an influential person to get things done for them. But human power is limited. Human beings cannot be trusted nor can the governments of this world be trusted. They are all futile in the light of God’s power and strength. The Psalmist understood this when he said that it is better to take refuge in the Lord than in human beings. If today we need somebody influential to speak up for us, who better than Jesus Christ can we turn to? When we trust him, He will answer our prayers and it will be marvelous in our eyes.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, help me to rely on you as I put my trust in your everlasting love, power and strength. I take refuge in you for there is no one else like you and no human power can compare to yours. In your name I pray, Amen.

Week 2

Jonah 4:11 - and should I not have compassion for the great city of Nineveh in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people…

Jonah was selfish and jealous. But God teaches him what compassion is. People everywhere irrespective of their backgrounds are created in God’s image. They have life in them and that is to be valued. God wants us to love them and have compassion. Often we have to love them with the heart of Jesus when through our worldly eyes they are simply not worth it. Though it may be difficult, with the strength from God we can love them and that love will eventually transform their lives.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, let my heart be like your heart as it is filled with love for all people around me who are created in your image. Help me to be compassionate just as you are compassionate towards your people. In Jesus name I ask, Amen.

Week 3

John 16:33 - …in this world you will have trouble but take heart I have overcome the world.

Jesus had a specific purpose in this world. Christmas is a time not only to remember that Jesus was born but also to remind ourselves of the purpose for which he was born. He was born so that He can overcome this world and all its troubles so that we can live a victorious life. But let us not stop with the birth of Jesus on Christmas. How about welcoming the birth of our soul when we truly realize the meaning of Christmas and follow Jesus’ example to live our lives with the God given purpose to fulfill? It is easy because He has already overcome the world and gone before us. All we have to do is follow his footsteps starting with his birth.

Prayer: Jesus Christ, you were born with a purpose to overcome this world. In the same way Lord, lead me to live my life with the purpose you have given me beginning with my birth. Let me be born again and walk in victory just as you did. In your name I pray, Amen.

Week 4

John 9:39 – Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”

Jesus came into this world to open many eyes to see him. But he also came to judge the earth. This Christmas as we get ready to launch on another new year in few weeks, it is good to remind ourselves of the second coming of Christ which will be more awesome and fearsome than the first. It is time that we prepare ourselves so that we will not be among the blind.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, open our eyes that we may see you and be counted among the righteous. Prepare our hearts and bless us so that we might continue to be witnesses for you. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
